1. What is the meaning of your name?

Hong means ‘wide’ and Ki means ‘ground’

2. What is your biggest interest nowadays?

Composition.

3. How do you feel about your first self-composed songs? 

I am happy to see the good response to the two songs, ‘Black Chocolate’ and ‘Orange Sky’.

4. Why is it ‘Black Chocolate’, not dark chocolate? 

I composed this song and wrote the lyrics for it. The song sings about bitterness of love. I chose black chocolate with more bitter taste since dark chocolate is still quite sweet.

5. What kind of music do you like? 

All genres of music.

6. What is a song you feel most confident of singing?

Upbeat or appealing rock music.

7. What made you publish ‘Lee Hong-ki’s Nail Book’?

I am very interested in nail art. Fans even predicted that I would do something related to nail art someday.

8. When are you most excited after you finish doing nail art? 

When I show a new concept of my nail art on stage, and when our fans like the design and say that it is pretty.

9. Who is the most envious celebrity honestly?

He is not a celebrity, but I am envious of the manager of Song Hye-kyo

10. If a sexy girl or a cute girl confesses love to you at the same time?

I would choose a cute girl.

11. Who do you prefer between one with a pretty face and one with a nice body? 

Face 45%, and body 55%

12. When is the happiest moment in your life? 

These days!

‘If Only’ and ‘A Hot Goodbye’

14. What does the movie ‘A Hot Goodbye’ mean to you? 

It is a very precious movie for me. It gave me an opportunity to think about life a lot.

15. What did FTISLAND members say after they watched ‘A Hot Goodbye’?

The youngest members Choi Min-hwan and Song Seung-hyun cried so much so that their eyes were swollen while leader Choi Jong-hoon said he had trouble trying not to cry. Lee Jae-jin said he wanted to cry but he could not because of dry eye syndrome.

Run.

17. When do you want to get married? 

At 35 years old?

18. What do you like or dislike most about your face?

Eyes, lips.

As I'm playing the role of a basketball player, so I'm occasionally practicing on my basketball skill now.
I was the first one to participate in a musical among my members, so I can feel that they have faith in me, but actually it's kind of like a burden for me (laughs)」

Q: What would you want to do if you could become Jonghun for a day?
Hongki: I want to compose songs.
Jaejin: Put a dog collar on the pet tortoise and jog with it.
Minhwan: Play guitar in the practice room.
Seunghyun: I want to walk on the streets with my upper body naked.

Q: If you could become Hongki?
Jonghun: Say whatever that comes to my mind.

Seunghyun: I want to sing the wrong lyrics and make lots of mistakes on stage.

Q: If you could become Jaejin?
Jonghun: I would first want to stable down. (Laughs)
Hongki: Show aegyo to his hyungs.
Minhwan: I want to eat delicious food.
Seunghyun: I want to give the bass to a fan as a gift.

Q: If you could become Minhwan?
Jonghun: Firstly, fill up my stomach and then relieve pressure through playing drums.
Hongki: I want to try and see the amount of fried chicken that he can actually eat.
Jaejin: Resist the strong urge to eat something that I want to eat.
Seunghyun: Fast for a day.

Q: If you could become Seunghyun?
Jonghun: I want to change and become someone who will be more able to make people laugh as compared to the current Seunghyun.
Hongki: I do not want to become him.

[NEWS] FT Island Will End Their Mini Album Promotion and Departs To Japan

5-Member band FTIsland is wrapping up their 3rd mini album promotions, to prepare for their upcoming Japan tour.

Their management company, FNC Music, revealed on the 15th that, “FTIsland is ending their mini album promotion on next week’s SBS Inkigayo. They will embark on their Japan tour which starts on the coming 29th, lasting for a month. They will leave for Japan on 28th after Hongki completes his recording for Immortal Song 2 on the previous day.”

“The members have been practising for their Japan tour on days without music shows. Though it’s unconfirmed, there are plans for an Asia tour after ending their Japan tour.”

FTIsland will depart for Japan on 28th for their first concert stop at Nagoya on 29th. The “2011 FTIsland Summer Tour Messenger” will also be held at Osaka, Tokyo and Fukuoka, with a finale concert at Tokyo Budoukan on 29th July.

Budoukan is one of the most notable concert venues in Japan. Top stars like Beyonce, Christina Aguilera and Hallyu stars like Dong Bang Shin Ki, Big Bang, Ryu Siwon as well as the late Park Yongha have once stood on this stage before.

On the other hand, FTIsland have been actively promoting their 3rd mini album “RETURN” with the title song “Hello Hello” since 24th May, after almost a year since their previous comeback.

[News] 110503 FTIsland Escaped Uninjured from Dorm Fire

A fire broke out at FTIsland’s dorm.

On the 3rd morning, a fire broke out at FTIsland’s dorm, which is situated near Munrae-dong, Youngdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Fortunately, the members evacuated immediately and no one got injured. The police is still investigating the cause of the fire.

According to one of their related personnel, the members have just finished their new album recording works and returned home to take a rest when the fire broke out. The members and their management company are in the midst of clearing their dorm.

On the other hand, FTIsland will be releasing albums in Japan and Korea on 18th and 20th respectively.

According to their related personnel, “There was smoke coming out from the computer monitor due to overheating. It was detected by the sprinkler which then discharges the water. The members made a report and have evacuated to a safe area. It was not a big fire and damages were not serious. It was lucky that the members were not injured. ”

‎[News] 110421 FTIsland, Swept Oricon Chart at 2nd Place

 FTIsland, have got their new single up on the ranks of the Oricon Daily Chart at the 2nd position.

Their 4th single that was released in Japan on the 20th, recorded an album sales of 17,665 copies on the day itself and was ranked 2nd place on the Oricon Daily Chart. They were positioned right after Johnny’s Kanjani8, showing their outstanding results.

Their album title song “SATISFACTION” was also selected to be the ending theme song of the current airing anime “Toriko”, generating high expectation from the public.

Song titled, “Friends”, which is recorded in the same album has a pop feel, giving prominence to the melody line. “I want” also features Song Seunghyun’s raps. Choi Jonghun also participated in the composition of both songs.

According to FNC Japan, “Ranking 2nd place on the Oricon chart is the first time for FTisland. Slowly increasing their level of recognition leads to their success. We will do as much as we can to support them in their activities in the future.”

On the other hand, prior to their outstanding Oricon chart results, member Lee Hongki also received positive reviews on his acting skills in the TBS drama “Muscle Girl”, which has started airing on the 19th. It all calls for a celebration.

F.T. Island’s Lee Hongki & Ichikawa Yui at the press conference for “Muscle Girl”

F.T. Island’s Lee Hongki and Japanese actress Ichikawa Yui recently attended the press conference for their upcoming drama, “Muscle Girl!“.

As reported earlier, this will be Lee Hongki’s first appearance in a Japanese drama. He commented, “I’m not really able to pull all-nighters in Japan, even though I’m doing it all the time in South Korea. Somehow the mornings approach way too fast in Japan! And I’m a night person…”

Ichikawa already noticed this problem as well, as she commented, “He is always in a bad mood in the morning.”

“Muscle Girl!” is a sports comedy about the president (Ichikawa) of a female pro-wrestling organization which is unfortunately facing some financial struggles. She happens to meet a South Korean star (Lee Hongki) who came to Japan in order to search for his mother. Teaming up, the two protagonists and Ichikawa’s female wrestlers try to fight against their biggest rivals, another veteran wrestling organization.

The drama not only marks Lee Hongki’s first venture into the Japanese drama market, but it’s also Ichikawa’s first starring role in a commercial drama.

She personally had to perform some wrestling moves, like a lariat and a sleeper hold, for flashback scenes that show her hey-day as a professional wrestler 10 years before. When asked about her most muscular body part, she replied, “My abs! I’m training hard right now in order to get nice abs.”

Lee Hongki also revealed that he was struggling a lot with his Japanese lines, yet he was able to understand and respond to all questions at the press conference in Japanese. Commenting about Ichikawa, he said, “I saw her in ‘Kurosagi‘ and ‘Ju-on‘. I thought that she would be a really cold person and was worried about becoming friends with her, but it turned out that she is really cheerful and kind. She is learning Korean, so I’m even able to speak Korean with her.”

Ichikawa also enjoys working together with him. She said, “He is quite a prankster and is really cute.”

He stated, “I was both surprised and felt pressured when I heard that I’d be participating in my first Japanese drama. But after I began filming, it was all so fun and I hope to show it to everyone soon.”

Ichikawa Yui commented, “I was surprised every time I saw how much more fluent Lee Hong Ki became in Japanese every time I saw. He’s such a caring person, he frequently worries for others when they’re not in good condition.”
Lee Hong Ki praised back, “I always thought Ichikawa Yui had a bit of a cold personality, but she’s actually very warm and bright. She even learns Korean and tries to hold conversations with me.”
When asked about F.T. Island’s main theme song, “Haruka“, and “Itsuka” which will be included in F.T. Island’s upcoming Japanese album on May 18th, Lee Hong Ki revealed, “The two songs are different both in recording style and instrument style from previous F.T. Island songs. They both fit the drama very well.”

The late-night drama will start on April 19th.
